Anomaly detection and digital vision

Company

The customer is a consulting firm serving the mining sector by developing products and services for them.

Challenge

  • Mining requires almost constant excavation. The tailings from this excavation are transported on a conveyor before being crushed.

  • The crusher is an important link in the chain. If it malfunctions, excavation operations can be seriously slowed or even halted.

  • Repair and replacement are very costly.

  • The mining company involved in this project was already carrying out controls using manual granulometry measurements, but this approach was insufficient.

The solution - Detecting anomalies with digital vision

  • Thanks to computer vision technologies, we have developed an AI model that analyzes the size of each of the thousands of rocks as they leave the crusher.

  • If observations do not match expectations, the system is able to report an anomaly to the people responsible.

The results

  • Increased ability to detect anomalies.

  • Potential reduction in equipment maintenance and repair costs thanks to automatically identified problems.
